Spring 2023 Fundraiser
The Four Oaks Volunteer Fire Department has provided many years of service to the citizens and visitors of Four Oaks and the surrounding communities. Our 85-plus dedicated volunteers assist with fire protection, rescue operations, and medical response to residents in over a 44-square-mile jurisdiction. Last year we assisted on over 1,200 emergency calls while also participating in many educational and community events.
Our volunteers are driven by a strong desire to help people in the event of an emergency. Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, day or night, we leave our homes, jobs, and families to help in your time of need. We also take great pride in our community, department, and equipment. We are very excited to announce that this past year we were able to maintain our ISO insurance rating of a three for our citizens. We also maintained our heavy-duty rescue, swift-water rescue, and surface-water rescue certifications while maintaining our classification as an EMT response department. During 2022, we also began working towards our agriculture rescue certification.
In early 2021, the owners of our original 1950 Ward LaFrance engine offered to donate it back to the department. They had moved to Florida but still maintained a residence in the Four Oaks area. A crew from FOFD drove down to Florida, loaded the engine on a lowboy and brought it home. While the owners were living in Florida, they entered the retired engine in many parades and even loaned it out to a movie production company. In its latter years, the retired engine spent much of its time in in storage and is now in need of a complete restoration, so we are asking for your help.
We take pride in all of the equipment we have, and that includes our antique 1950 Ward LaFrance engine. We plan to restore the engine to its original working condition in order to preserve the history of the Four Oaks Fire Department and honor those before us. We will not be going door to door for donations. Instead, we are mailing this letter to each resident and property owner requesting financial support. We hope you appreciate this less intrusive method and show your support by using the enclosed envelope to mail your donation directly to us. As we are a non-profit organization, your donation is 100% tax deductible. All donations will be used to restore our 1950 Ward LaFrance engine.
Four Oaks fire personnel are your local emergency first responders. We are here to serve you in your greatest time of need. Please support our efforts by sending in your donation today.
Thank you in advance for your continued support!
